Appreciation for the Heenie

Apparently now that I have started writing I just can't stop which isn't necessarily good. I am not THAT good of a writer. Not being modest, just realize that there are others far better equipped at wordsmithing than I. My husband for one. Speaking of my husband...

Tom is amazing. I LOVE being married to him. He's everything that I have wanted and needed in a husband. Oh sure he may make me nuts when he forgets to pull back the garbage cans, or with his ability to step over anything on the floor and not even see it. But overall, he's an awesome guy. Now this is something that I tell everyone, but I can't remember the last time I told him. We spend so much time talking about school functions, bills, doctors appointments, or the lawn that I don't remember the last time I just said thank you for choosing me to share your life with.

I know life can't always be candlelit dinners and roses, especially with a teenager in the house! But beyond being romantic, sometimes it's important to just be grateful. I have seen some of my friends' husbands and holy cow am I ever lucky!! I also have friends who are still single and they struggle with living life without a partner. I don't envy them either; life is easier when your major relationships are settled.

That doesn't always make life easy...There have been some really big things in the past few years that we have struggled with. There were times where we fought with each other and times we fought against each other. A good lesson that I think has been hard earned for us was that we are much better at surviving the hardships of life if our backs are toward each other and not our swords. We have learned to appreciate that each other is a worthy opponent and if we stay on the same side that we are a formidable team.

So today I want to do something special just for him. It doesn't have to be big or ostentatious, but just for today I will say thank you because quite honestly, I can't imagine my life without him.

Thank you Heenie...
